Winston Fraser

To your family I send my heartfelt condolences. Words cannot express the sorrow felt with his death. My only solace is that he is now with Becky. Winston Fraser was a caring, kind, generous man and a staunch supporter of his friends. I know this first hand and lovingly called him my "chicken man" because at Thanksgiving and Christmas he donated, very generously and without question, the money needed to buy many chickens for Mile End Mission. I will miss his big smile and loving heart. Rest now my friend your struggle is over. Ann Gillard

You father may be gone but he will always remain in your heart. We only knew your dad through Elizabeth and through her we had a small glimmer of what a wonderful father he was. Our sympathies go out to all his families. Knowing that he is in a better place now will bring comfort. RIP.

I was so saddened to hear of Winston’s passing. The Fraser family has been such an important part of our family’s life for so many years. Our families first became close through St. James Anglican Church in Rosemère, and over the years that friendship grew into something much more than simply knowing one another through church. There were so many shared occasions, friendships and memories, and Winston, Becky and the family became very much a part of our extended family. We also got to know Winston and the family through my Dad’s hardware store, where the Frasers were some of our best customers, and Charles even worked in the store for a period of time. So the connection between our families really does go back many years and across generations. Winston was one of the kindest men I have ever known. He was very smart, but he had a wonderful ability to make everyone around him feel comfortable and never made anyone feel that they were less intelligent than he was. He was also incredibly generous and caring. What always struck me was how quietly he helped people. He never seemed interested in recognition or thanks; if someone needed help, he simply found a way to help them. That quiet generosity said so much about the kind of person he was. I have so many fond memories of Winston and Becky, and I know how deeply Winston will be missed by the whole family. I feel very fortunate to have remained close to the family over the years. I will always be honored that Charles asked me to be his best man, and that I have the privilege of being Kennedy’s godfather. I’m very sorry that I won’t be able to be at the funeral this weekend. I would very much have liked to be there to pay my respects and to support all of you, but unfortunately commitments at home make it impossible. We were truly blessed to have lived next door to Becky and Winston for over 40 years. We could not have asked for better neighbours who turned into friends. So so many happy memories and oh how Winston loved his parties!! Winston was one of a kind- a true gentleman to the core.It was a pleasure to watch Andrea, Charles, Laine and Lizzie grow into the accomplished adults they have all become. I had the privilege of caring for Winston during his stay at the hospital where I work. From my very first experience with him I could tell that he was a truly special person. His understanding of his illness, and the respect and thoughtfulness he showed toward everyone was remarkable. He made everyone who entered his room smile the aura around him was just so beautiful you’d feel so calm in his presence. Winston was kind to everyone he encountered. He was always patient, understanding and smiling even through what he was going through. It was truly a blessing and a privilege to have been able to care for him. I extend my deepest condolences to his wonderful family and loved ones. May his kindness and the impact he had on those around him never be forgotten.

Winston blessed my life and was a blessing to anyone who knew him. I met him at St. James Church. We became friends and I learned valuable life lessons from a kind, generous and caring man. He always was thoughtful and had a positive outlook on life. I miss him but I believe we will meet again. He's with the love of his life, Becky, and that brings me peace. We had the opportunity to know Winston for only a short time in his later years. I will remember Uncle Winston as someone passionate about chronicling our family history through his published books as well as being an editor of our family newsletter the Fraser Link. While I didn’t get a chance to visit with him often I enjoyed getting a chance to chat with him at our annual family reunions. He will truly be missed.

Winston Fraser was a fine man. He was brilliant but never boastful, stalwart but open to speaking about the health challenges he faced in recent years. Winston was a man of faith, a tireless worker, a family man who spoke lovingly, proudly but never boastfully about his family's accomplishments By the same token, he was incredibly humble about his own, many accomplishments. Winston loved much in life but he loved his family most. They gave back to him in so many ways and it is evident that they are the family of a man who demonstrated both ability and determination to live life well, to be of service, to give back. We have been most fortunate to have been good friends with Winston since we shared a Grade Six/Grade Seven classroom at Cookshire High School. We feel honoured to say he was a beloved colleague and business partner but much more importantly a reliable and supportive friend for almost 40 years. He was always there for us when we needed him as he seems to have been for many others. He didn't just talk about his faith, he lived it.
